About Abortion

These times are controversial times. Abortion and birth control are the themes the GOP has been discussing.

Why was abortion legalized? Why was so much research spent on birth control and why was it legalized? Those are the questions we have to ask and make public because the young American voter was not there 50 years ago when it was necessary to stop the carnage.

The GOP makes the argument that babies are being indiscriminately killed by unscrupulous doctors. Which of course it is not true. Abortion is a medical procedure. I am not diminishing the value of life or the moral dilemma that abortion brings. But, we all were given free will, which makes it a matter of choice.

If we make abortion illegal, will that stop the “killing of babies”? To know the answer we have to go back to the time in which abortion was illegal. Lets go back to the pictures of old cases where young women and babies were found killed just by a unscrupulous medical butcher using a coat hanger. Or a young woman, not able to face the stigma of pregnancy before marriage would choose to abort on her own by using a coat hanger to puncture her uterus in order to abort.

We cannot have it both ways. We can either say we do not mind if both die or we can save just one. Those women who will look to abort will be daughters, granddaughters, sisters. We will have to accept the guilt their death will bring. As a God created person and a believer that God holds life precious I am pro-life. Meaning I will always choose and will always counsel any person to pass life onward. But as a conscientious voter who is faced with the question whom to vote for I will vote for those who are pro choice. Because I rather see the woman alive, than to have on my conscience the death of both, woman and baby.

I find it is ignorant on the part of the voter to choose on the basis of party lines in this matter. And I find it criminal on the part of legislators to create publicity and play to the emotions of a believing public to gain political advantage over another candidate.  Are we willing to vote our conscience without fear?

Does It Really Matter in Business

History is always under construction.  We, in the United States have had a very colorful full of travail and full of successes. We have been going forward in the desegregation of schools, the workplace.  Now, that a Black American is in the White House, most feel the striving is completed and that we have achieved the highest level of equality. In my opinion, now more than ever we are faced with racism in it most simple form.

During the 40s and through the 70s there were hard times for minorities in this country. There were always but I witness just the 50s through 60s and from then on. When ever a store or business would hire an African American or a minority, that business was boycotted by the white community. Sometimes that involved beatings, hangings and false accusations of a criminal nature. That was the way a small group of people instilled fear in the community. Most people to avoid controversy and harm, would stay away from that business. And the business was taught a lesson.
The actions this congress has taken have brought all those memories back. It is as if the congress is telling the country: "that is what you get for hiring a black man". I am not African American but remember those times and those times were not moral.

Mr. McConnell's and this congress objective of "making sure President Obama fails" remind us that this had happen before and that apparently we are repeating a history that does not deserve to be repeated.  One thing is to allow someone to fail at his/her job and another one is to facilitate and cause that failure.  So far this congress has manage to sabotage, obstruct and take hostage every effort of this president to help this country achieve.  They have manage to keep the unemployment high and this have hurt millions. They have managed to discourage the business and industry community to obstruct progress by not hiring.  When goods are not produce as the rate they are demanded, the balance of supply and demand is kept unbalanced.  Price go up as supplies do not get produced but get demanded by the public.

What keeps this country afloat is that President Obama is resourceful enough to in place ideas without the cooperation of the congress.  So in spite of the sabotage and the obstruction done our economy is on its way up.  Of course this is why the cooperation of the business and industry community is necessary.  If their cooperation is not there then the government has to take the initiative and be the jobs creators by themselves in order to serve the people.

That is the base of our market, supply and demand.   But people without jobs cannot buy or pay taxes.  That is why the private sector HAS to do it. Our form of government, whether Democrat or Republican, already provides the proper environment for business to prosper.

When the GOP, as per John Sununu;s interview when he said that industry and businesses are afraid because they are not sure whether Obama will win or not because they want the GOP to win, that does not make any sense.  All business officials know that business is a risk.  Some will be successful and some will not and it does not matter who is in the White House.
